Day 22 of P90X - Yoga X ***Updated***

I'm still on the fence about this particular routine. I was able to meet my goal and eclipse my previous duration by a few minutes. Whats giving me the most fits is balance or should I say lack of. I'm awful shaky in many of the poses and I think that makes it even more fatiguing. It was however slightly more enjoyable then my last attempt, will try to push further next time. Weigh in tonight will update later. 68 more days to go.

Update

After having my best training week so far, I'm very disappointed to report that I lost a total of zero pounds this week. I'm a little frustrated right now just because I really worked my ass off! I'm looking over every post last week and I can remember how hard a brought it and how much I sweated and how much it hurt...for what? To break even? I've entertained the idea that maybe I lost some fat and gained some muscle but I think that's more of an attempt to make myself feel better than anything else.

Inspirational quote of the day

"Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection."

  1. Hey Dave. I have the exact same feelings toward Yoga X. I suffer from lack of balance too. But the good thing is, the longer we stick with this program, the better we'll get. I'm certain of that. I did improve over last week. And instead of toying with the idea of quitting half way through (I didn't quit, but sure wanted to), I didn't even entertain that thought this week.

I noticed on yesterdays post that you did take your pix at the beginning. I never did that. I should have, I suppose. I wish I had have because I DO see such a big difference in my body just in 2 weeks. You know, maybe I'll take some tonight...half way through the first month is better than not at all. Thanx for posting about them.

  2. For me Yoga X is a mental block, I kinda tell myself going in to it that I'm not going to do the whole 90 minutes. Plus I don't like it :)

I'd say definately take some pics, its a great way to gauge how far you've come and in my case, it motivates the heck out of me to see myself in such bad shape. If your really bold post em. I did it because I figured if that didn't motivate me nothing would!

Thanks for dropping by. Its so cool to see how other people are doing at this, sounds like you're doing GREAT! Keep it up!

  3. Hey Dave.
About Yoga. I use the Yoga workout from One on One with Tony. Check it out on Beachbody.com. He made it for whiners like me who can't do anything for an hour and a half. It's only 45 minutes long, and I love it!
Second, forget about the weight. Think of it this way; muscle weighs more than fat, so what you've done is lost a ton of weight and replaced it with a heap of muscle, and broke even! Don't use this as a reason for doubting that what you are doing is the right thing, because there is no doubt it is.
    Keep it up. Jim.

  4. Jim,
Thanks for the One on One yoga tip. 45 minutes sounds like something more down my alley. I know yoga's extremely beneficial but man it's frustrating. Giving it time though.

I'm hoping your weight loss/muscle gain theory is right. I can't figure out what else it could be, my diets tight, sure I indulged twice last week, out of forty something meals. I was pretty bummed (in fact I was pissed) but I still know I'm doing the right thing and every day I'm getting better and better. Thanks a million bro. Dave

  5. I agree with the Milkman. You are converting goo to muscle. Your best bet is to take your measurements at the end of this week along with your 30 day photo. Do the measurements weekly so you can figure out your body fat percentage. Pictures and measurements will do you better than the scale my friend. I have a link to a site to measure BF% without using calipers. It is not as accurate as calipers but it will give you a good idea. The more good news, the more motivation.
    Awesome job so far...

  6. I have exactly 7 days before my 30 day update and I wanted to wait until then but I could't resist taking a few measurements to see where I'm at. Now, I only measured my thigh, waist and bicep and so far the numbers I'm seeing definately support the claims I've been hearing from you guys. Its kicked up my motivation to yet another level. Thanks guys. Dave

  7. I never took measurements...didn't want to be bothered with 'yet another' thing to think about....but in hind sight, I wish I had of. The reason being, in the short time I've been doing this I see amazing results so far. So, Before I start my second month, I'm going to take measurements. I'm so glad you retook them because I knew you'd see a difference. That scale is a whiley thing...it doesn't show true success...it only shows a number. Sure, we all would love to see the numbers dropping, but it's only ONE way to guage success....like you said before to me :o)
I love that someone else is doing P90X too. I have a friend that's doing it, and people just don't understand unless they're doing it, and killing it. I think it's awesome!
