Day 75 of P90X - Kenpo X

I'm so far off schedule that I'm pretty much just doing cardio related routines and I need it. Last time I checked I was about 6 pounds heavier than my day 60 update, that kinda sucks but I do feel like I've gained some muscle as well. Not going to kid myself though, one look in the mirror and I can tell, I was just starting to see some abs and now I'm pretty soft, dang! Like I said I know what it is ; FOOD! I have two Christmas parties to go to this weekend and I know there's going to be some good eats and I'm calling it now, I ain't gonna say no! Its all good, going to keep working out, finish out this phase and worry about the diet aspect come New Years. Already getting pumped about round 2! 15 more days to go.

  1. Hey Dave,

Congrats on your effort. You've given yourself a great gift for Christmas - health!
It's really amazing how hard the last month is, isn't it? You would think the first month would be the hardest, but it's the last. Maybe we get complacent, or think we can start switching and swapping workouts, and things just get away from us. That's been my experience with every 90 day program I've done. The end just gets ragged. Injuries mess things up too. If I were you, I'd ditch this round, spend Christmas and the NY getting over the injuries, and get stuck into round 2 on the 1st or 2nd of January. Maybe throw in a few Cardio Xs or Yogas in there somewhere, not eat too much (keep in mind the more you eat, the harder Ab Ripper X is going to be after that first workout - that's enough to keep me eating moderately) and just get psyched for the new year. Make a schedule and be detirmined to stick with it. I'd get that breathlessness you mention sometimes check out, and talk to the doctor about what you're doing and ask his advice on avoiding injuries so you can approach round 2 without any niggling concerns. Think honestly about why you slipped in the last month, and make sure that doesn't happen next time. This happened to me this time last year with my first round of P90, and I came back and did a round of P90X without missing one workout because I knew when I was likely to slip and made sure I didn't.
The food is a tough one. I haven't worked it out. One thing I hate now is eating too much, you know that feeling when you've eaten so much you feel sick and you can't move? I dread that feeling more than feeling hungry now. I always think that it takes 15 minutes for my stomach to register that it is full, and I never want to get more than 80% full ("harahachibunme" as they say in Okinawa), so I back off the moment I think I've eaten enough. Maybe use that as your mantra this NY break. Harahachibunme, harahachibunme.
Anyway mate, well done, I love reading your blog, and have a great Christmas and NY, and bring it!
    Jim.

  2. Howdy Jim,

Your so right on about all that you've said. Going to blog very soon about what my plans are going to be. Definately need to reconize where I am and what I did wrong.

Harahachibunme huh? I've heard of this before, I seen it on a show about living longer and how Okinawans always push themselves away from the table and leave food on their plates before they're completely full. Definately something I should really adapt. I know exactly how you feel about eating so much that you feel miserable, thats me, escpecially as of late. Its ridiculous sometimes!

I'm not really discouraged at all. Well maybe a little disappointed but nothing thats going to keep me down. I really enjoy reading your blog as well, you definately have some interesting and amusing things to say! Best wishes to you and your family this holiday season! Bringing it in oh-10.

    Dave
